Whether true or not, Astrology has always fascinated me, so while researching metaphysical properties of stones I found they were also linked to the different zodiac signs, not just to different months. I began making jewelry using the stones associated with each sign. I’ve taken endless notes and decided to write up short descriptions about the different Zodiac signs to share with you. Hope you find as much enjoyment in it as I did researching it. -Liz

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac and takes its name from the Greek word Tauros, meaning ‘The Bull’. There is no other sign closer to the element earth, than the Taurus. There is also no one more persistent or unwavering. They are solid, practical, stable, reliable, balanced, patient, and methodical. Taurus is inclined to be a bit bull-headed and stubborn, hence the bull as their sign. They have strength of will and extreme determination and are apt to become fixed in their opinion. Bulls tend toward conventionalism. They prefer to take things slow and steady, while working toward their goals. They want to get things done. Their persistence is often seen as stubbornness. Taurus enjoy testing their strength, therefore physical activity is a must. They are industrious and good craftspeople, and not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Bulls tend to be gentle, even tempered, good natured, and slow to anger. They dislike quarreling and discord. If provoked, though, they can explode into violent anger in which they seem to be out of control. Like any bull, it’s probably not a good idea to piss them off.
Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus. In Roman mythology, Venus was the goddess of love, beauty, and pleasure. They may not look it, but Taurus has a strong aesthetic taste, enjoying art, beauty, and music. Consequently, the Bull is all about the reward. They love physical pleasure and material goods. Bulls adore comfort and being surrounded by pleasing things. They love the good life in all things. Bull are considered true romantics and loyal to the core. When it comes to love they are devoted, romantic, and possessive.
Throughout the coming month, I will be highlighting some of the stones associated with the sign of Taurus. Be sure to check in here each Friday for the weekly Stone Blog.
